Born in a mining village in the North East of England and now based in London, Jon-Paul has been involved in image making for over 20 years.
Initially an illustrator he found himself increasingly frustrated with the lengthy process from idea to finished imagery.The instantaneous nature of photography lured him away from the drawing board and into the darkroom, a decision he never regretted. Originally starting out with film and analogue technology he now works exclusively digitally.
His curiosity continues to drive his need for new pictures and to that end he is currently working on a series of pictures that combine his love of people and place.
He is at equally at home shooting studio or location, people, landscapes, concepts but his preferred subjects are narrative + people connection.
The things he finds most exciting are to frame projects in such a way that creativity may naturally unfold and so that people may be the best they want to be. And do what they love.
It all comes back to the simple things for me, which is the joy and freedom of making things and inspiring people. I want to make beautiful sensual images that connect on some emotional level.
