Edward Hartwig (born 6 September 1909 in Moscow , died. 28 October 2003 in Warsaw ) – Polish photographer, brother of Julia .

Regarded as one of the best known Polish photographers in the world; considered a versatile artist, combining the work of photography and graphics, equally fascinated by the landscape and man, theater photography, architecture, detail.

Louis’s son, also a photographer, a photo of the owner, has just learned from him the secrets of the profession. In 1918 his family was in Poland, lived in Lublin . In the 20s, under the influence of Jan Bulhak , photographing landscapes, but the work made ​​a difference: moody and mysterious, which imparted him the nickname “mglarza”. In the 30s He studied at the Vienna Institute of Graphic under the direction of Rudolf Kopitza . Many of his early work not survived the war conflagration, since a bomb destroyed the house Hartwigów.

Further stages of his work include combining graphics with realistic photography, and since the 70s experiments with color, continued in the 90s (At that time appeared in his art photography abstract ).

The first solo exhibition was already in 1929. He was active almost to the end of life. In 1947 he co-founded the Union of Polish Art Photographers and lived all co-founders.
